Winter 2008

Award yourself with Platinum!

Getting a PFCCU Platinum Visa credit card can be very rewarding, especially with our EXTRA AWARDS program. For every dollar you spend* using your PFCCU Platinum Visa, you earn one Extra Awards point to use toward travel anywhere in the world! The PFCCU Extra Awards program gives you greater flexibility than programs tied to a specific airline or merchant. Plus, there's no need to visit special Web sites or make purchases at specified merchants to earn points. Simply use your card and watch the points add up. When you have enough points for the reward of your choice, just submit your redemption request. That's it!

Your travel options are virtually limitless! Use your points to head for the sun, surf, slopes, or your favorite city’s streets. Since your purchases earn Extra Awards points, not air miles, you can travel on most major airlines with fewer restrictions. The PFCCU credit card also allows you to transfer money to your PFCCU savings or checking account and the amount is applied to your PFCCU Visa balance. This is an added convenience of a PFCCU Visa card. This PFCCU card benefit prevents you from having to use balance transfer checks from other cards that charge a fee for cash advances.

Enjoy the flexibility of shopping from home, visiting your favorite retail stores or taking a trip with your Extra Awards points. It's easy to redeem your points online or by phone. Apply for your PFCCU Platinum Visa today at www.postalfed.org!

*Cash advances do not qualify.

ATTN: DEBIT AND ATM CARD USERS
In an attempt to limit fraud we have placed a $1,000.00 per day limit on these cards. If you have a specific need above this amount you may call the CU to request a one-time change to allow for transaction(s) over this amount to process. After the transaction completes, the $1,000.00 limit will be reinstated.

ATTN: CREDIT CARD HOLDERS
Please call us when you have travel plans that include using your PFCCU Visa card. We can place travel dates and destinations in your card record to help make your trip uneventful! Because of the amount of fraud currently being experienced nationwide we want to try to prevent your card from being blocked while traveling.

We Swing for Kids

Participating credit union representatives present the donation check to CMN.

In the fall of 2007, participants at the Golfing for Kids tournament worked on their golf swings while benefiting a very important cause, the Children’s Miracle Network. This special event raised $21,061.20 for this charitable organization that helps sick and injured children in our communities.

To make efforts in 2008 an even greater success, mark your calendars now for the 2008 Golfing for Kids tournament, to be held at Rivercut Golf Course on Friday, September 12 at 8 a.m. The 2008 tournament will feature a morning tee time only. Watch for more details to come soon.

Note from the President

What are you doing new this year? Is it time to get a new hobby? Start a new exercise routine? Or get your finances in shape? The New Year is always a great time to set goals and – most importantly – actually pursue them. If you are looking to make some financial changes for the better, all of us at PFCCU are here to help you make those goals a reality. Whether it is consolidation of high interest debt so you can get your monthly budget back on track, save for a big dream like a college education, or get a better mortgage from a lender you know you can trust – PFCCU can help. Even if it means we don’t get your business, what’s most important is helping you make decisions that are right for you. So if you have questions about any financial decisions you are trying to make for 2008, don’t hesitate to stop by or give us a call.

Other new things I encourage you to do – or see – are our newest branch locations. These branches in north Springfield on North Glenstone, in Nixa on West Mt. Vernon, and our Central Ozarks Branch on Sergeant in Joplin are great additions to our ever-expanding branch network. They add great service and convenience to many of our members near work and home.

This growth is entirely due to the tremendous support from our members, and we thank you all for your loyalty and your business. We also thank you for referring your friends, coworkers and family members to PFCCU – this is also a great way we can grow and become even better for our entire membership. Please continue to refer new members to PFCCU throughout 2008. With your help, we can all make it a great year.

Money & Stuff

It’s IRA time again. You know I start my January newsletter column with that statement every year. But, it’s true. Now is the time to start thinking about your IRA. AGAIN, if you don’t know about the “ROTH IRA,” please give me a call!

Boy the housing thing has sure been a kick in the %&$*@#*. I think that the credit card debt a lot of people are carrying is going to cause some problems too. If you are ever going to get yourself out of credit card debt NOW IS THE TIME! No, don’t try to do it with a home equity loan! You cannot borrow your way out of debt!

Do it by cutting back on your spending. Most of the people I talk with about credit card debt don’t even know what the money was spent on. Remember, for many people a credit card is a way to get things you don’t need with money you don’t have.

It was a wonderful Christmas at our house again this year. The kids got lots of stuff and the adults did too. Kadie and Ethan got Guinea pigs. Not from Grandma and Grandpa!! We got them toys. Those pigs have been a world of fun for the kids and the dog and the cat. At this time neither the dog nor the cat has had one for dinner. Tyler is too young for small pets but I’m sure his time will come. All Tyler got was lots of toys and clothes. He did enjoy ripping open the packages. As always, if I can help you with your investments, 401(k), IRA, or anything else dealing with finances, give me a call. There is no charge for my services, and while I don’t have all of the answers I do know where to get them. My extension is 227.
