Money & Stuff

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2007.

It's IRA time again, and while we have spent all of our money for Christmas we still have until April 15th to make a contribution for last year. Also keep in mind that you can convert any or all of your IRA to a ROTH IRA if you want to. The IRA conversion is a really good consideration if you have an IRA that you can't put money into any longer. If you do not know what a ROTH IRA is (I still talk to members that don't) please give me a chance to explain it to you. It's TAX FREE MONEY!

All of my grand kids are just wonderful. Kadie is tops in her class, Ethan is all boy, and Tyler is into everything. What a joy they are to ole grandma and grandpa. I have started a little UGMA account for each of them in a mutual fund. If you would like to know about UGMA accounts just give me a call. They are for kids, you know.

Now would sure be a good time to start a Credit Union Christmas Club account. Believe me, it will make next year's Christmas spending a lot less stressful. And you will not have to use the old credit card as much. Its just one more of the growing number of benefits offered to Credit Union members. I am another benefit to our members. So if you have questions about your retirement, investments, insurance, education funding, TSP or 401(k) plan, or your IRA just give me a call. My extension is 227 and it will cost you nothing to talk to me. I am a really good source of information and if I can help, well, that's what I am here for. May 2007 be a very prosperous year for us all.

Be sure to check out our FREE SEMINAR. Details in the F.Y.I. section above.

A Salute to our Military

Once again, we'd like to express our gratitude to the many courageous men and women serving in the Armed Forces. We can only imagine the hardships they endure as they leave their homes and families to support our country. In this issue, we recognize PFCCU members Lucas Williams, and Joshua Lee Jones.

Lucas Williams has been stationed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One since he was 19. He has served in Spain, Japan, and Africa, and has made two tours in Iraq. He has also earned several commendations, including two for his help in the clean up efforts for Hurricane Katrina. In 2006 Lucas returned to Japan, serving as the Safety and Quality Control officer. He also served as Job Supervisor for building a Soil Bio-remediation Facility for the air station. This past December, Lucas returned home to spend time with his 3 year-old daughter, Lola.

Joshua Lee Jones, 21 year-old grandson of PFCCU members Bill and Judy Shores from Galena, Missouri, has been with the Marines since May of 2004. He spent almost one year serving in Okinawa, Japan, and two months in Mongolia. In August of 2006 Joshua was sent to Iraq where he began serving as part of Motor Transportation. Upon completing his duty, Joshua intends to return to Camp Pendelton in San Diego, California.

If you have a PFCCU family member serving in the military, then we would like to hear about them so we can show them our support. Contact Jill Bishop, Vice President Marketing/Business Development, 417-887-1983, ext. 312 or jbishop@postalfed.org.

Note From the President

Yes, 2007 is here and we're looking forward to another great year of providing you with the kind of outstanding service you've come to expect from PFCCU. It's what makes us the credit union of choice for more than 14,000 people in Southwest Missouri. This year we've got a few new things on our horizon as well as some old favorites.

One of our biggest announcements is the relocation of our Joplin Branch. We hope you stop by and take advantage of the greater convenience the new space allows. And we have another big announcement from the Joplin area. Central Ozarks Credit Union located in Joplin asked us if we would consider merging them into our credit union. Our Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and management team evaluated this request and all agreed that this would be a WIN-WIN situation. Their members will gain many new services and better rates on their savings and loans and our members will gain another full service location at 2007 S. Sergeant Ave.We will also gain safe deposit boxes and Saturday hours in Joplin. We are waiting for final approval from the Director of the Division of Credit Unions for Missouri and hope to have the merger completed on March 31, 2007.

Also of note is the introduction of our youth-related financial programs - First Advantage and First Advantage Plus. It's important to us that all of our members, even our youngest, enjoy access to financial solutions that meet their needs. With these new programs, younger members can take advantage of valuable resources like Free Checking Accounts, Savings Accounts, student and auto loans, scholarships and more.

In addition, those staple products and services you've come to rely on are still here and just as great as ever - like our affordable auto loans and excellent 1% cash back ree-bate. Make sure you take advantage of these deals at this year's Auto Fair.

Last but certainly not least is the return of our always-entertaining annual meeting and celebration, scheduled for April 23rd. You definitely don't want to miss out on any of the night's fun and surprising festivities.

It promises to be a great year. We plan on making the most of it and hope you do too. From all of us at PFCCU - have a happy and healthy new year!
