Art full of heart | Special Greetings for The Southwest Missouri Office on Aging home meal delivery program

Just a little of your time and talent could make a huge difference in the lives of many people in our communities. Along with other area credit unions, Postal Federal Community Credit Union is asking our members to join in our efforts in assisting The Southwest Missouri Office on Aging home meal delivery program, a charitable organization that delivers fully cooked meals to the homebound.

How can you help? We are asking our members to contribute original artwork that may be used for the covers of holiday greeting cards. The proceeds from the sale of these cards will benefit The Southwest Missouri Office on Aging home meal delivery program.

To participate, create something special— it can be photography, a painting… anything you like. Then, submit it with your entry form, which you can pick up at any PFCCU branch or download complete rules and instructions. The deadline for your entry is May 2, 2005, so don’t delay! And thank you for helping us help The Southwest Missouri Office on Aging home meal delivery program.

Check Compliance
Throughout the years the account number structure has changed and some members are using paper checks that are not in total compliance, potentially causing problems on automatic payments. Take a minute to look at your checks and verify that the middle 14-digit group of numbers begins with “101” (i.e.101000########). If your checks simply have a series of zeros before your account number, you need to get your checks corrected.

Money & Stuff

Well the change from CUNA Brokerage to Cambridge Investment Research is done and I hope none of you sent the letter from CUNA back to them. If you did and you do not want to get the service on your contract from the 1-800 number at CUNA, you will have to fill out a form to get it transferred back to me so that I can help you when you want to change something. Just give me a call and we can get that done for you.

The market has been pretty flat for the past six months and will probably be that way for the next three or so. I still think the year will end up being a good one, not a great one. We are going to be doing some seminars this year and if any of you have a topic that you would really like covered please give me a call and let me know. If I do not address the topics that are of greatest interest to you, then I am not as much help to you as I can be.

Kadie and Ethan are doing well. Ethan has learned that he can, with little effort, get Kadie worked into a lather, and he really seems to enjoy doing that. Kadie is just the prettiest and she gives great hugs, too! It’s a good thing that you can’t have grandkids first.

It’s IRA time again and as always, I must mention the ROTH IRA. If you don’t know what it is that you need, call me. I still come in contact with members who do not know about the ROTH IRA. My phone extension is 227, so call me with any questions about investments, insurance or estate and retirement planning or, well, just call me.

See you at the annual meeting. Investments are not NCUA insured, not credit union guaranteed and may lose value. Registered Representative, Securities offered through Cambridge Investment Research, Inc. a Broker/Dealer, Member NASD/SIPC, CFG and PFCCU are not affiliated with Cambridge.

Note from the President
by Steve Pierson

These days, the prospect of buying a car seems almost too easy. Over the last year, the automotive industry has been luring in consumers like you with the promises of savings, offering zero percent financing and other “deals.” On the surface, it looks like a “free loan.”

So, what’s the catch? Well, according to consumer finance expert Rob Gentile, many of these offers are designed simply to get you into the showroom. Once there, you may find that the zero percent finance deal is only offered on less popular models and for as little as 24 months. This means that the monthly payments tend to be too high for many consumers’ budgets.

Dateline, NBC’s primetime news program, also recently encouraged consumers to opt for credit union financing. I couldn’t agree more. Choosing a low-rate auto loan from your credit union and taking a manufacturer’s rebate over their zero-percent financing offer not only saves you from paying high monthly payments, but could also save you money over the long term. So before signing any contract or agreement, be sure to check all of your options on auto loans, including those offered here at PFCCU. Plus, we’re also offering our members a special incentive to refinance with us… a 1% rebate on all qualifying auto or boat refinances. If you want more details, just check the front page of this newsletter.

At PFCCU, we always offer reliable, low-rate, flexible-term financing for automobiles, year in and year out, so call or visit us when you’re ready for a new vehicle. One of our loan officers will be happy to talk to you and help you sort through the dealers’ offers so you can make the best decision possible for financing your car.

Peace of Mind on the Road

Because even the most reliable vehicles can develop mechanical problems, PFCCU offers auto warranties with a complete line of coverage designed to keep your vehicle on the road. No matter where you travel in the U.S., our warranties protect you against major mechanical expenses, and there is no deductible on covered parts or labor. All of our plans come with 24 hours-a-day/7 days-a-week Emergency Road Service.

• Towing
• Flat Tire Assistance
• Battery Jumpstarting
• Lock-out Service
• Concierge Service
• Minor Adjustments

See why so many people depend on our warranty plans. For your PFCCU auto warranty, call (417) 887-1983 and speak to a loan officer today. Complete terms and provisions are contained within each Service Agreement.
