Money & Stuff

Time sure flies! It’s October, so the year is just
about gone. It sure has been a hard one for
investors. However, we will soon have new people
in offices and the expectation for “better” gives
us all hope for improving things to come. It may
be hard to accept, but these past markets have
been very good for IRAs and 401(k) type plans.
There have been some outstanding buys made
in these plans because of the depressed prices of
stocks in the sub accounts. This has been a very
good time to put money into these plans and
when the markets recover (they always have) we
will look back on this time and see that it was
very good for our retirement plans. If you have a
question about your plan, feel free to stop by my
office with a copy of your last statement and we
can take a look.
Well, on to other good news… my son and his
wife who live in K.C. (Tyler’s folks) will have
twins, yes twins, in January. Grandma and I are
just stocking up on all of the stuff that will be
needed. At the drafting of this letter we do not
know what they are, but who cares. We are
excited!!!! Tyler had a wonderful time at the
MO. state fair. Got himself a big blue monkey.
We are going up to see him this weekend. Kadie
just got back from a trip to see her great grandma
and had a wonderful time riding horses. She loves
horses. Ethan is in kindergarten this year and
really likes it. I’m just glad that I am not the
teacher. He is all boy!
Remember that there is no cost for the service
that your Credit Union brings to you through me,
so take advantage of what I know and can do
for you. And I usually have new pictures of the
grandkids. We will also know what the twins will
be so give me a call for further details.

Note from the President
Once again, the end of the year is fast approaching. And now is the time we begin to reflect back on what we have learned and apply it to the upcoming year so we can continue to improve and be a successful financial cooperative. PFCCU has had another fantastic year in 2008 and we are very thankful to our wonderful members for making that possible.
As we look ahead to the upcoming year, we focus on how we can continue to uphold our goal of providing service that surpasses your expectations. In order to do that, we continue to add more products and services to serve you better. We have recently added Money Market Accounts in order to help you, our members, save money for the future. Our Money Market Accounts will allow you to earn higher dividends on your investment, while still maintaining access to your money.
Another great new service is E-Statements. This service allows for a safe and secure way to receive your statements. You can also view and pay your bills online with Online Bill Pay. This service is free if you are signed up for E-Statements. These are two ways we have made our services easier and more convenient for you.
As one year comes to a close and a new year begins, we look forward to continuing to serve you and continue to make improvements so your experience at PFCCU will continue to exceed your expectations. From everyone at PFCCU, we wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season!

*Interest will continue to accumulate on your loan during the month that you skip your payment. Funds for payments made through Direct Deposit/Payroll Deduction remain in your account. Each member is only allowed to skip one payment annually per loan, and all loan payments must be current to qualify. Payments that may be skipped are those with due dates of 11/01/08 thru 12/31/08. Home mortgages, HELOCs, Visas, Overdraft LOCs and Payment Shaver Loans are not eligible for the Skip-a-Payment plan. If there are co-borrower(s) on the loan, all signatures are required on the Skip-a-Pay request. PFCCU requires participants to have had no loan payments greater than 30 days past due in the prior six months. The first payment of a new loan is not eligible for this program. **Processing fee is $25 or 10% of loan payment, whichever is less. ***By selecting the PFCCU Visa option for payment of the processing fee(s), you hereby agree to all terms and conditions set forth in the credit terms. The processing fee will only be deducted upon available credit limit funds, otherwise your Skip-a-Pay request will be denied, or other payment options would need to be selected.

Your Money is Safe at Our Credit Union
The closing of IndyMac Bank and the resulting media reports
about FDIC coverage are raising questions about credit union
insurance coverage in Missouri.
Postal Federal Community Credit Union wants to assure you that your money is safe
in a credit union. Since 1970, credit unions have been federally insured through the
National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), an arm of the National Credit
Union Administration. The U.S. government backs this fund with full faith and credit
just as it does the FDIC. NCUSIF provides the same amount of coverage for credit
unions as the FDIC does for banks: up to $250,000 per depositor and additional
coverage of up to $250,000 per depositor for other types of accounts, such as IRAs.
For more information about your account’s coverage, contact PFCCU or see the NCUA’s
insurance estimator at http://webapps.ncua.gov/ins/.
